Open now, the new, architect-designed community and sports pavilion on Radwinter Recreation Ground. Multi-purpose and fully accessible, the Radwinter Pavilion provides exceptional event facilities including a spacious social area, changing rooms, kitchen, store and veranda together with a large car park.
The Pavilion has been built for the villagers of Radwinter to encourage sporting activity across all ages of the community and along with the new building itself, the impressive facilities include an all-weather, multi-use games area (MUGA) able to accommodate two tennis courts, a netball court, a basketball court and a 5-a-side football pitch.
The pavilion, MUGA, football pitch and the recreation ground are available to book day or evening, 7 days a week.
A bike track for all ages is also planned and we are currently applying for funding.
If anyone would like to get involved in this project please contact us.
About the new Pavilion
The Pavilion is an ideal venue for everything from meetings of village sports and school clubs to musical evenings, birthday parties, and other community events. The facilities also lend themselves to business meetings, recreational classes, youth activities and seasonal celebrations. Situated at the far end of the recreation ground, the new pavilion is well away from the residential areas of the village, making it suitable for events and parties involving music and live entertainment. For larger events a marquee can be added to create extra space.
The ambitious Pavilion project and all of the new improvements to the Recreation Ground have been made by the ‘New Pavilion Steering Group’, a group set up by the Recreation Ground Charity made up of members from both the Parish Council and the Recreation Ground Management Committee as well as other volunteers, living in Radwinter with specialist knowledge, skills and enthusiasm.
Funding for the new pavilion and MUGA has come from a variety of sources. The major grant for the Pavilion came through LEADER which is part of the Rural Development Programme for England, which in turn is funded by the European Union. Support for the MUGA came from the Essex Community Enterprise Fund, and grants from the Stansted Airport Community Fund and Uttlesford District Council have enabled the play area to be enhanced and the kitchen in the new building to be kitted out. The project also benefited from funds linked to the new housing development in Radwinter and the overwhelming support of village residents, both with donations and at fundraising events.
The Radwinter Pavilion provides exceptional event facilities including a spacious social area, changing rooms, kitchen, store and veranda together with a large car park.
