Radwinter Pavilion

Our architect-designed community and sports pavilion on Radwinter Recreation Ground is multi-purpose and fully accessible.  It provides exceptional event facilities including a spacious social area, changing rooms, kitchen, store and veranda together with a large car park.

The Pavilion has been built for the villagers of Radwinter to encourage community activities to enhance the well-being of the residents of Radwinter across all ages of the community.  Along with the building itself, the impressive facilities include an all-weather, multi-use games area (MUGA) able to accommodate two tennis courts, a netball court, a basketball court and a 5-a-side football pitch, a Boules Court, a BMX Pump Track and a Children's Playground.

The pavilion, MUGA, football pitch and the recreation ground are available to book day or evening, 7 days a week.

About the Pavilion

The Pavilion is an ideal venue for everything from meetings of village sports and school clubs to musical evenings, birthday parties, and other community events. The facilities also lend themselves to business meetings, recreational classes, youth activities and seasonal celebrations. Situated at the far end of the recreation ground, the pavilion is well away from the residential areas of the village, making it suitable for events and parties involving music and live entertainment. For larger events a marquee can be added to create extra space.

These facilities are provided by the Radwinter Recreation Gorund Charity and managed by a committee and trustees made up of volunteers living in Radwinter.

Funding for the pavilion and MUGA came from a variety of sources. The major grant  came through LEADER which is part of the Rural Development Programme for England, which in turn was funded by the European Union. Support for the MUGA came from the Essex Community Enterprise Fund, and grants from the Stansted Airport Community Fund and Uttlesford District Council have enabled the play area to be enhanced and the kitchen in the new building to be kitted out. Essex Community Initiative Funds, UDC  and The National Lottery have enabled the creation of the bike track and update of the playground equipment.  The project also benefited from funds linked to the new housing development in Radwinter and the overwhelming support of village residents, both with donations and at fundraising events.
